From ordering to online
How does it actually work?
Never used an eSIM before? No worries. Below you walk through the whole journey: what you order, which email and messages you receive, what installing looks like, and how to reach us if something does not work. Knowing exactly what happens takes the stress out of it.
First, two things
Two things to check beforehand
An eSIM is a digital SIM card that is already built into your phone. Nothing arrives by post: it all happens digitally, by email. Two things are handy to know in advance.
Does your phone support an eSIM? Most devices from 2019 onwards do. And an eSIM is for data only. You keep your own number on your regular SIM for calls and texts. The eSIM just handles mobile internet at your destination.
Ordering
Sorted in a few minutes
Ordering takes three short steps. You do not need to create an account or think up a password. You only enter where you are going and which email address may receive your eSIM.
Paying
Pay securely, the way you are used to
You pay with whichever method suits you. The payment runs securely through Stripe, the same payment partner thousands of webshops use. We never see your payment details.
Right after
Your eSIM lands in your inbox straight away
As soon as the payment goes through, we automatically send you an email with everything you need: your QR code, your activation details in case scanning fails, and your invoice as a PDF. Here is what that email looks like:
Hi Emma,
Thanks for your order. Below you will find your eSIM and the installation details.

Installing
Installing the eSIM, comfortably at home
You install the eSIM best at home, on wifi, before you leave. That is perfectly fine: the eSIM is then ready but uses nothing yet. Your bundle only starts once you reach your destination and connect. Here is what it looks like on an iPhone:
Step 1. Open Settings and tap Cellular.
Step 2. At the bottom of the SIM list, tap "Add eSIM".
Step 3. Choose "Use QR Code" and scan the code from your email.
Got a Samsung or another Android? The steps are almost the same. In our guide you pick your device type at the top and walk through the screens one by one. You can also take it along as a PDF for the road.
On the way
Your eSIM sends you a few texts
This surprises a lot of people: your eSIM keeps you posted itself. The moment it connects, and as soon as your data starts running, you get a short text message from sender "eSIM". A handy confirmation that everything works, right at the nervy moments.
After installing
On arrival at your destination
During your trip
Keep an eye on your usage, and top up easily
You do not have to keep count yourself. When your data heads towards the end, you get a nudge automatically: a text message on your eSIM and an email with a button to top up in a few taps. So you are never unexpectedly offline.
Hi Emma,
Your eSIM is almost out of data. Top up in a few taps and stay connected without interruption.
In your personal My eSIM area you see exactly how much data you have left and until when your bundle is valid.
If something goes wrong
And what if it still does not work?
Technology does not always work at first glance, especially not when you are tired at an airport. That is why this is maybe the most important part of this page. If something gets stuck, you are not on your own.

Contact & WhatsApp
Message or email us. We are happy to think along.
If you are logged in to My eSIM, we can often look in remotely: whether your eSIM is installed correctly, whether you have used any data, and which network you are connected to. That usually tells us straight away what is going on.
You reach a real person
No bot and no queue. I, Nick, answer the messages myself, usually within a few hours. Also at your destination, in another time zone.
After your trip
Home, and ready for next time
Your bundle stops on its own when the days or the data run out. There is nothing to cancel and no ongoing charges. After your trip we ask you in one short email how it went. Nice for us to learn from, and entirely optional.
The eSIM you used cannot be refilled later, but for your next trip you order a new one in a few minutes. We already know your details by then.
Ready to go online without the worry?
Now that you know what happens, the step is small. Pick your destination and you are sorted in a few minutes.
